Hypothesis N°1
An origin in Loudun's region, this hypothesis are especially based on the fact that several family Acadiennes would be native of this region, that remains to confirm for some. No act with the patronymic BOUDROT seems to have been found in this region this day.

Hypothesis N°2
Second origin, most often adopted, is Cougnes's parish in the diocese of La Rochelle.
This origin is often advanced because his wife, Michelle AUCOIN, are native of this parish, but no act concerning the family BOUDROT was found in La Rochelle.

Hypothesis N°3
Another track was investigated. That of the origin in the region of Niort, to Germon Reopens. It is the reading of Simon ROBERT's newspaper, notary to Germon, that tells facts going back up(raising) in 1621 which is from this search.
This Simon ROBERT had had as first wife Andrée BOUDREAU daughter of Simon BOUDREAU and Michelle QUINAULT. One notices in succession that written form is not the same, we have BOUDREAU and not BOUDROT, now patronymic is always BOUDROT in the first acts acadiens. No more searches gave anything of convincing.

Hypothesis N°4
For some years a new track is advanced by several researchers, notably René Perron and Michel Turquois, their searches are more particularly centred on Burgundy and the South of Champagne.
René Perron on Nicolas Le Creux's track finds acts in the region of Monceau les Mines. 
Michel Turquois finds BOUDROT in any beginning of XVII-th century in the North of the Yonne and in the South of the Aube, he finds there also in Langres's region, he would have even found a baptismal certificate of some Michel BOUDROT in 1599. 
Claude Massé in N ° 11 of the bulletin of " Racines & Rameaux Français d’Acadie" points out that some Louis BOUDROT (on 1634 - 1717), To advise of the King, became perpetual Mayor of the City of Langres and that his parents were Jean BOUDROT and Marguerite GAUTHEROT. Coincidences?

Catholic or Huguenot?
That think because numerous descendants of Michel BOUDROT wear how first names: Isaac, Abraham, Zacharie or Judith, first names often worn by the Huguenots?

Michel BOUDROT is in Acadie in 1639, he is mentioned as one of the first property managers of Port Royal on September 21, 1639 during the bapteme of a girl of Charles Menou D' AULNAY.
He marries towards 1640 Michelle AUCOIN sister  of Jeanne AUCOIN the wife of François GIROUARD.

In 1684 he is civil general lieutenant and criminal of Port Royal.
( 5 or 15?) in October, 1687 he signs a certificate in favour of the work of the governor of Aulnay.

"Nous, Michel Boudrot, lieutenant général en Acadie, avec les anciens habitants du pays, je certifie que feu messir d’Aunay Charnisay, anciennement gouverneur pour le roi sur la coste d’Acadie, fit construire trois forts sur ladite coste; le premier à Pentagouët, le second à la rivière Saint-Jean (en 1645 seulement), et le troisième à Port-Royal ; lesquels forts étaient bien fournis de tous les canons et de toutes les munitions nécessaires ! Et avec trois cents hommes ordinaires pour défendre les susdits forts.

Nous certifions aussi que ledit dernier sieur d’Aulnay Charnisay ordonna la construction de deux moulins ; l’un était un moulin à eau et l’autre un moulin à vent et ledit sieur ordonna à Port-Royal la construction de cinq pinasses, et plusieurs chaloupes, et deux petits vaisseaux d’environ soixante-dix tonnes chacun, avec deux fermes ou manoirs et les bâtiments nécessaires ; aussi bien maisons d’habitations que granges et étables(…)

Tout ce qui est ci-dessus nous le certifions être vrais, car nous l’avons vu ; en foi de quoi nous avons signé à Port-Royal, le 15 octobre 1687, en présence de M. de Menneval, gouverneur pour le roi de toute l’Acadie, et de M. Petit, grand vicaire de sa Grandeur l’évêque de Québec, et curé de ladite place de Port-Royal.
Aussi ont signé ; Messire Boudrot, lieutenant général ; François Gaunizzot (Gautherot) Bourgeois ; Pierre Martin; Mathieu Martin ; Claude Tériot ;  d’Entremont, procureur du Roi.

  Avec les marques de : Antoine Bourg, Pierre Bouet (Doucet), Denis (Daniel) LeBlanc ; Abraham Dugast."

20 Aout on 1688, he gives up the lieutenant's post General to Mathieu Goutin following a prescription of the King of March 31, 1687. According to this prescription, BOUDROT was " Outside state by the old age to make for it functions. "

The BOUDROT in France nowadays

For my having part either time or competences to search the registers of birth, marriages and deaths of these regions, I used another method to try to find the tracks of this family. My method is a little similar to what brings the air photo in the archaeological search. This method with also the limits, if a patronymic to missing person of a region there will be no track.

I simply made an enumeration of the subscribers for the telephone in France, by region, by bringing back this number to the population of the concerned region.

Any doubt, BOUDROT there is there still in Burgundy at the moment, it is same and by far the most important concentration.
